XRD technology identifies the chemical signature of explosives, providing complimentary detection capabilities to CT based systems. The system uses X-ray diffraction technology to identify the chemical signature of explosives. The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has certified MDI’s Yxlon XES 3000 to meet the stringent standards for screening passenger-checked baggage in the United States. It is the first non-CT (computed tomography) based technology to meet the TSA’s standards for explosives detection systems since 1994. The XRD 3500 is the first system worldwide which reached ECAC certification for standard-3 EDS following EU regulation 1448/2006. MDI has received orders for XRD systems from six European airports and the Israeli Airport Authority. |
