Quadrupole resonance (QR) technology uses a highly specific explosives detection technique, similar to MRI, which can scan shoes rapidly with a high probability of detection and few false alarms. The technology has been developed by Morpho Detection with funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Technical Support Working Group (TSWG) and the Department of Defense (DOD). Advanced QR technology utilizes radio frequency magnetic fields to excite and detect specific atoms of explosive materials. The detection system also identifies hidden weapons in shoes without removing them. |
