Advanced Computed Tomography

Seen in airports throughout the world and used for checked baggage inspection, MDI produces explosives detection systems based on advanced computed tomography (CT) technology, X-ray diffraction and quadrupole resonance. CT is an imaging method employing tomography where digital processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the internals of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation.

MDI is the leading supplier of explosives detection systems to the U.S. government for civil aviation security. MDI’s CTX 9800 DSi™ system, CTX 9400 DSi™ system, CTX 9000 DSi™ system, CTX 5500 DS™ system, CTX 2500™ system and CTX 1000™ system are all certified by the TSA to detect explosives in passenger checked baggage. In mid-year 2005, the TSA bought another 43 CTX 9000 DSi systems.”
